Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 patch restores servers after 24 hours, polyphony digital comments on microtransactions
Gran Turismo 7 servers have been restored after an unexpected and unprecedented interruption of 24 hours. Due to the PlayStation 5 and PS4 exclusivity requiring an internet connection to save the progress of the game, the entire experience was largely unplayable over the last day. The new update, which weighs 354.5 MB, gives the online version.
Here are the Update, Polyphony Digital Notes:
- Fixed a problem where the range of cars did not appear in second-hand car concessions and legendary cars
- Correction of a problem where, in some cases, the game did not progress towards the world map, which made it impossible to play
The creator of the series, Kazunori Yamauchi, also commented on the failure: "Immediately before the release of the update 1.07, we discovered a problem where the game did not start correctly in some cases on the product versions for PS5 and PS4. This was a rare problem that had not been observed during test equipment testing or quality assurance sessions prior to publication, but to give priority to the safety of user backup data., we decided to interrupt the publication of the update 1.07, and to make a corrective update 1.08.
This makes sense, but we would say that the communication could have been better during the 24 hours during which the whole game was offline. In addition, it is not the only concern that fans currently have with Gran Turismo 7: the currency rewards of the game have been adjusted with the update 1.07, which raises concerns about microtransactions in version 70 £ / $ 70.
Yamauchi had this to say, "In Gran Turismo 7, I would like users to take up a lot of cars and shopping, even without microtransactions. At the same time, the price of cars is an important element that reflects their value and rarity, so I think it is important that it is linked to the actual world prices. I want to make GT7 a game in which you can enjoy a variety of cars in different ways, and if possible, I would like to try to avoid a situation where a player has mechanically continuing to replay some events again and again.
He continued: "We will inform you in time of the update plans for additional content, additional race events and additional features that will resolve this problem constructively. It hurts me not to be able to explain the details about it for the moment, but we plan to continue to revise Gran Turismo 7 so that the most players can enjoy the game. We would really appreciate that everyone can watch the Growth of Gran Turismo 7 from a point of view a little longer term.
Frankly, it's a terrible statement, and it's so a shame to see an exit so warmly greeted into these obvious traps just two weeks off. Gran Turismo 7 is a fantastic race game with some of the best contents in the history of the series, but act as adjustments to the game economy are intended to convey the "value and scarcity" real cars is a declaration ridiculous.
Alas, less than two weeks after the launch of a game acclaimed by criticism, Polyphony Digital will now have to really save the face to restore the coat of arms of this version. A real direct fault!
